Mumbai: Central Railway has implemented a brief but essential traffic and power block between Titwala and Asangaon on the intervening night of March 18-19 (Wednesday-Thursday), impacting select long-distance services with minor delays.
Per the official announcement from Central Railway, the block covers both UP and DOWN North-East lines from 2:10 am to 2:50 am on March 19 for stringing a 400KV transmission line, executed by the Maharashtra State Electricity Transmission Company Limited (MSETCL). This short suspension facilitates critical infrastructure upgrades and safety enhancements.
As a result, certain long-distance trains are being regulated:
- Train No. 22104 Ayodhya-Lokmanya Tilak Terminus Express will be detained at Vasind from 2:27 am to 2:50 am, expecting a 20-25 minute late arrival.
- Train No. 18030 Shalimar-LTT Express faces a halt at Asangaon from 2:37 am to 2:50 am, with a projected delay of 10-15 minutes.
- Train No. 12810 Howrah–Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus Express will be controlled at Atgaon in the same window, likely delayed by 10-15 minutes.
Authorities have indicated that any other mail, express, or passenger trains running behind schedule on March 19 may also face regulation or short-termination as needed during this period.
Central Railway stressed the importance of these blocks for ongoing maintenance and passenger safety, urging commuters to cooperate despite the brief inconvenience.
Note for today (March 19, 2026): Mumbai local (suburban) trains on the Central Railway network are operating as per the holiday/Sunday timetable, featuring reduced frequency and adjusted services compared to regular weekdays. This aligns with standard practices for designated non-working days or special operational requirements. Commuters are advised to verify real-time status via official railway apps, station announcements, or websites for any additional adjustments.
In a related recent suburban incident, a Kalyan-bound fast AC local (Train No. 95711 from CSMT) overshot the platform at Bhandup on Tuesday morning. The 9:29 am service approached at higher speed, leading the driver to brake sharply, but multiple coaches extended past the stop mark, causing momentary passenger concern. The train follows its regular suburban schedule with a planned halt at Bhandup.
Passengers should stay updated through official channels for smooth travel amid these developments.
