Iran Sets Three Preconditions For Talks With US As Middle East Conflict Intensifies
Tehran: Amid escalating hostilities in the Middle East, Iran has indicated that it could consider negotiations with the United States, but only if several key conditions are met. According to a report by The Times of India, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian outlined three requirements that Tehran says must be fulfilled before any diplomatic talks can move forward.
Speaking as the conflict between Iran, the United States and Israel continues to intensify, Pezeshkian said the war would not end without recognition of Iran’s legitimate rights. He also demanded compensation for damages caused during the ongoing military campaign and firm international assurances that Iran would not face further aggression in the future.
Talking to leaders of Russia and Pakistan, I reaffirmed Iran’s commitment to peace in the region. The only way to end this war—ignited by the Zionist regime & US—is recognizing Iran’s legitimate rights, payment of reparations, and firm int'l guarantees against future aggression.

The Iranian leader shared these conditions in a statement posted on the social media platform X following discussions with leaders from Russia and Pakistan, signalling Tehran’s stance on what it views as the minimum requirements for de-escalation.
The war, which has been unfolding for nearly two weeks, began after the United States and Israel launched strikes on Iranian targets on February 28. Tehran subsequently responded with retaliatory attacks, widening the conflict and heightening tensions across the region.
Israel has continued to conduct military operations in Iran and has also targeted locations in Lebanon, saying the strikes are aimed at groups aligned with Tehran, including Hezbollah. At the same time, officials in Washington have indicated that the United States is determined to continue its campaign. US President Donald Trump recently suggested that the conflict would continue until objectives were achieved.
Diplomatic efforts to ease tensions have so far struggled to gain traction as fighting persists. Iran’s latest statement, however, signals that negotiations may still be possible if its stated demands are addressed, though the prospect of a settlement remains uncertain as the conflict continues to evolve.
