Jammu & Kashmir Dominate: One Century And Five Half-Centuries Power Them to 527/6, Innings Still in Progress

Hubli (Karnataka): Jammu and Kashmir cricket team are marching strongly towards their maiden Ranji Trophy title, and the momentum continued on Wednesday after an impressive showing on Tuesday. At the end of Day 2 of the five-day final (starting 9:30 am), the team had piled up 527 runs for the loss of six wickets in their first innings against Karnataka cricket team and will resume their innings on Thursday.

The outcome of the match and the championship will largely depend on how many runs Karnataka manage in their first innings and whether they can secure a lead. Three full days of play still remain in the contest.

Jammu & Kashmir displayed their batting strength against Karnataka’s much-vaunted bowling attack, with one batter scoring a century and five others registering half-centuries. Under the captaincy of Paras Dogra, the side put Karnataka’s bowling unit under severe pressure, with five of their six bowlers enduring difficult figures.

In the total of 527/6, Shubham Pundir led the charge with 121 runs. He was well supported by Yawer Hassan (88), Paras Dogra (70), wicketkeeper Kanhaiya Wadhawan (70), Abdul Samad (61), and Sahil Lotra, who remained unbeaten on 57.

From Karnataka’s bowling attack, as of stumps on Wednesday, Shreyas Gopal proved the most expensive, conceding 130 runs for one wicket. Shikhar Shetty returned figures of 1 for 112, Vidyadhar Patil took 1 for 104, while Prasidh Krishna claimed three wickets for 90 runs. Vijaykumar Vyshak went wicketless despite conceding 60 runs. Karun Nair bowled two overs and conceded just one run.
