Konkani Travelers Rejoice: Mumbai-Vijaydurg Ro-Ro Ferry Service Launches March 1 Ahead Of Holi ; Full Timetable & Fares Inside

Mumbai : The long-awaited Mumbai-Vijaydurg Roll-on/Roll-off (Ro-Ro) ferry service is set to launch on March 1, 2026, just ahead of Holi, providing a welcome boost for the Konkani community and travelers seeking a scenic, efficient alternative to road travel along the Konkan coast.
Operated by M2M Ferries, the service will facilitate the transport of both passengers and vehicles, marking a significant revival of maritime passenger connectivity in the region after years of suspension due to safety concerns and regulatory hurdles. Sindhudurg Guardian Minister Nitesh Rane symbolically booked the first ticket to inaugurate the initiative.
The inaugural outbound trip departs from Mumbai Port at 8 am on March 1, arriving in Vijaydurg by 3 pm. The return journey begins from Vijaydurg at 12 pm on March 2, reaching Mumbai at 7 pm. For the month of March, outbound services from Mumbai are scheduled on the 1st, 4th, 7th, 11th, 14th, 18th, 21st, and 25th, while inbound trips from Vijaydurg run on the 2nd, 5th, 8th, 12th, 15th, 19th, 22nd, and 26th- totaling 16 voyages. This staggered initial schedule allows authorities to gauge passenger demand and assess operational performance.
Fares are set at Rs 2,500 for economy class passengers and Rs 4,000 for premium economy. Vehicle charges include Rs 600 for bicycles, Rs 1,000 for two-wheelers, and Rs 6,000 for four-wheelers.
The service promises to enhance Konkan tourism and support the local economy by offering a comfortable sea journey that avoids lengthy road congestion, particularly during festive periods. Authorities anticipate it will strengthen water-based links between Mumbai and the coastal belt.
