Mumbai Local News : 325 New ATVMs To Be Installed On Western Railway To avoid Long Queues

Mumbai : If you are fed up with the long ques for availing mumbai local tickets, then here’s the good news for you ! Now, no more waiting as Western Railway is set to make your travel more quick and smooth but how? 

Western Railway is set to launch 352 new Automatic Ticket Vending Machines (ATVMs) across its suburban network. Its motto is to lower down the burden of ticket counters and encourage commuters to shift towards digital and self service ticketing options. 

For easy accessibility during peak hours, the new ATVMs will be placed near station premises and foot over bridges. Officials informed that the new upgraded machines will ensure seamless digital payment options and faster transactions. 

Western Railway launched its awareness campaign ‘Mera Ticket, Meri Shaan-Viksit, Bharat ke liye mera Yogdan’ on Sunday urging passengers to travel responsibly. Pradeep Kumar, General Manager of Western Railway, said in an official statement that this awareness drive is a part of western railway campaign to ensure commuters adhere to ticketing practises and travel responsibly as it contributes directly to nation building and modernisation of railways. 

At present, Western railways has 501 ATVMs out of which 110 machines are non-operational which are set to be replaced. Many complaints have been registered by the commuters due to their non functional or closure of machines leaving passengers frustrated. Railways confirmed that the new allotment of machines are more reliable and will help to reduce burden on ticket counters. 

Moreover, Railways have also introduced RailOne application which enables commuters to purchase tickets without paying a visit to any ticket counters or standing in the long ques. Through it, one can directly buy tickets from their android or smartphones.
