India Vs Pakistan U-19 World Cup: No Handshake At Toss As High-Stakes Super 6 Clash Unfolds
Bulawayo: During the Super 6 Group 2 match of the ongoing ICC Under-19 World Cup 2026, both India and Pakistan continued with refusal of customary handshake policy at the toss.
Without traditional handshakes, Indian U-19 Captain Ayush Mhatre and Pakistan Captain Farhan Yousaf completed the toss ceremony.
The trend that was rooted from Indian Captain Suryakumar Yadav during Asia Cup 2025 due to political tensions between the two nations has prevailed in next matches too. Even during the Asia Cup Rising Stars 2025 match, the same act of ” No Handshake” continued between the captains and now the same event took place during the Under-19 World Cup clash between India and Pakistan.
In the match of Super 6 Group 2 which is of U-19, Pakistan won the toss and opted to bowl first as it is the last group stage fixture for both the Asian teams. Both the teams are contesting for semi-final spot as it is do or die situation for them.
While Australia and Afghanistan have confirmed their spot as qualifiers for the semifinal from Super Six Group 1, England has qualified for Super Six Group 2. The remaining 1 seat is left to take over.
Comparing the situation of both the nations, India is positioned second in the group with 3 wins from many matches with a net run rate of +3.337 on the contrary Pakistan bags third position with 2 wins from 3 games with a net run rate of +1.484.
In simple words, a victory over India would make Pakistan on points with six yet unbeatable to surpass Indians superior net run rate. With Ayush Mhatre leading the Indian Cricket team Under 19, India will come out with flying colors.
