Becoming A Teacher Proves Extremely Challenging: Only 11,000 Out Of 91,000 Clear TET-I Exam
Just One Candidate Across Entire State Scores Above 141 Marks

Ahmedabad: The State Examination Board has declared the results of the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET-I), which have turned out to be considerably weak overall. A total of 1,01,525 candidates had registered for the examination, of which 91,628 candidates appeared. According to the announced results, only 11,027 candidates from those who appeared managed to qualify by securing a place in the prescribed merit. Thus, the state’s overall pass percentage stood at merely 12.03 percent, while 80,602 candidates failed to qualify in this examination.
Looking at the medium-wise results, candidates from the Gujarati medium performed better compared to other mediums. In the Gujarati medium, 88,659 candidates appeared, of which 10,825 passed, recording the highest pass percentage of 12.21 percent. On the other hand, the English medium recorded a pass percentage of 8.90 percent, with only 98 candidates succeeding out of 1,101. The situation is most concerning in the Hindi medium, where merely 104 candidates passed out of 1,868, registering the lowest pass percentage of 5.57 percent.
Examining the statistics of marks obtained by candidates reveals how difficult the competition has been. In the score range of 141 to 150 marks, only 1 candidate from the Gujarati medium across the entire state managed to secure a position. Meanwhile, in the range of 121 to 140, there are just 3 candidates. The highest number of candidates, that is 43,136 candidates, got stuck between 60 to 81 marks, while 33,826 candidates received 40 to 59 marks. These figures indicate that the majority of candidates were seen struggling to even approach the passing marks.
