Bengaluru Horror: Man Kills Wife, Hides Body in Suitcase, Confesses to Family

In a chilling incident that has shocked Bengaluru, a man allegedly murdered his wife, concealed her body in a suitcase, and then contacted her parents to confess the crime. The disturbing case, unfolded in the city’s Doddakannahalli area under the Hulimavu police station’s jurisdiction on March 26, 2025.

The accused, identified as Rakesh, originally from Maharashtra, is said to have committed the act before fleeing to Pune. According to police sources , Rakesh, a 36-year-old project manager at Hitachi, killed his 32-year-old wife, Gauri Anil Sambekar, who had a background in mass media and communication but was unemployed at the time. The couple had relocated from Maharashtra to Bengaluru just two months prior, renting a home in the southern part of the city.

The crime came to light after Rakesh made a startling phone call to Gauri’s parents, informing them of the murder. He then abandoned the suitcase containing her body in their rented residence and left for Pune. The landlord, alerted to the situation, notified the authorities, prompting a swift response from the Bengaluru police.

Using call detail records (CDR), law enforcement tracked Rakesh to Pune, where he was apprehended by local police on March 27, 2025. The Hulimavu police have since taken custody of the suspect and are investigating the motive behind the killing, which remains unclear at this stage. Forensic teams have been deployed to the crime scene to gather evidence, and Gauri’s body has been sent for a postmortem examination.

This gruesome incident has left the local community reeling, with authorities working to piece together the events that led to such a tragic outcome.
