WTC 2025-27: Australia Perfect With 100% Record; India Languishes In 6th Place On Points Table
The Ashes has already been decided, with Australia securing it convincingly within 11 days. After the Adelaide Test concluded with Australia’s 82-run victory and retention of the urn, they preserved their flawless winning streak in the current World Test Championship (WTC) points table, claiming six victories in six matches. Meanwhile, defending champions South Africa occupy second position with three wins from four Tests, while three-time finalists India struggle in the lower half of the table, trailing Pakistan due to an inferior PCT.
Since their WTC Final defeat in June, Australia swept West Indies in an away series before dominating England in the three Ashes Tests played so far. Even without veteran batsman Steve Smith and Test legend Josh Hazlewood in the Adelaide Test, the hosts overwhelmed the English side to reclaim the Ashes.
A devastating loss to their historic rivals dropped England lower on the WTC table, landing one position beneath India in seventh place, with only Bangladesh and West Indies ranking below them.
Team India currently holds sixth spot, recording four wins and four defeats across nine matches. Though they managed to draw the away five-match England series earlier (2-2), suffering a home whitewash against South Africa (0-2) damaged their prospects of ascending the table and securing a top-two finish.
Under newly-appointed Test captain Shubman Gill’s leadership, the Indian Test squad has secured only four victories so far, including two home wins against West Indies.
