Hansal Mehta and Kangana Ranaut Fight Over Demolition of Mumbai House

Director Hansal Mehta and actress Kangana Ranaut have fallen out following a social media argument over the demolition of Kangana’s Mumbai home in 2020. The issue arose after Mehta dissed a tweet by comedian Kunal Kamra, whose comedy club was ordered to be sealed by authorities following a stand-up routine that ridiculed Maharashtra’s deputy chief minister. In response to questioning regarding his silence on Kangana’s personal demolition experience, Mehta pointed to distinctions between the two events and inquired if her home was “vandalized” or “challenged for freedom of expression.”
Kangana, not mincing her words, hit back with a fiery reply. She had called Mehta “bitter and stupid” and condemned him for speaking about her personal issues. Recalling the experience, she explained how she was threatened and belittled during the demolition, which was subsequently declared illegal by the High Court. Mehta, unperturbed, replied curtly, wishing her “get well soon.”
They called me names like haramkhor, threatened me, served a notice late in the night to my watchman and next morning before courts could open bulldozers demolished the entire house. High court called the demolition completely illegal.

The other altercation is building up on controversy over the razing of Kangana’s bungalow in Bandra by Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), which took place amidst the backdrop of tensions between the Shiv Sena government during 2020.
