Miss World Pageant to Promote Telangana’s International Tourism: Tourism Minister

Hyderabad : Telangana Tourism Minister Jupally Krishna Rao has said the Miss World pageant, which will be organized in the state in May, would go a long way in making Telangana a world tourism hub. In a discussion on the state Demands for Grants for 2025-26 in the assembly on Tuesday, Rao said the event would not only increase tourism but also accelerate economic growth in the area.

Rao pointed out that when he traveled to the UK for tourism promotion, people did not know where Telangana was. “The idea is to use the Miss World pageant to promote Telangana’s rich culture and bring in international tourists,” he added, pointing out that the event will have contestants from 120 to 140 countries, and around 3,500 media persons.

Furthermore, Rao announced that the state government is also going to construct an international convention center in Hyderabad at a capacity of 20,000 attendees, comparable to Mumbai’s Jio World Centre. The government also plans to organize a ‘Hyderabad Carnival’ based on the renowned ‘Rio Carnival’ in order to promote the state’s cultural and tourism potential further.
