Gangster Anmol Bishnoi, a prime suspect in several major criminal cases, including the murder of former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddique and the firing outside actor Salman Khan’s home, has been deported from the United States to India.
According to sources, the deportation process was completed on Tuesday and Bishnoi boarded a flight bound for Delhi, expected to land around 10 am on Wednesday. His return marks a significant breakthrough for Indian law enforcement agencies tracking the Bishnoi gang’s operations, believed to extend across North America.
Speaking to reporters, NCP leader and Baba Siddique’s son Zeeshan Siddique confirmed that the family is registered as a victim family with the US Justice Department. “Being part of the victim notification system, we receive updates about Anmol Bishnoi. Today, we got an email stating that the US federal government deported Anmol on November 18, 2025,” he said.
Zeeshan urged the Centre and Maharashtra government to ensure Bishnoi’s direct transfer to Mumbai for interrogation. “He must be brought back and questioned thoroughly because he poses a serious threat to society,” he added, stressing the need to uncover the wider conspiracy behind the crime. “We still need to know who ordered him to carry this out. It has been more than a year, and we are still waiting for justice.”
Mastermind in high-profile killings
Bishnoi, reportedly detained by US authorities in November 2024, is accused of masterminding the murder of Baba Siddique, who was shot dead outside his son Zeeshan’s Bandra office on October 12, 2024. According to the Mumbai Police’s charge sheet, which names 26 arrested individuals, Bishnoi orchestrated the killing to reinforce his criminal dominance. Investigators have also recovered voice recordings of his alleged instructions to the shooters.
Salman Khan attack plot
Bishnoi is also wanted in connection with the April 2024 firing outside Salman Khan’s Bandra residence. As per MCOCA charge sheets, he coordinated the attack from abroad via encrypted communication platforms. Moments after the shooting, in which bike-borne assailants opened fire at Khan’s house, Bishnoi is said to have claimed responsibility online, calling it a “first and last warning.”
Police evidence points to Bishnoi directing shooter Vicky Gupta to execute the plan in a manner that would intimidate but not harm the actor. Navi Mumbai Police investigations later revealed a wider plot resembling the assassination of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala, involving reconnaissance of Khan’s Panvel farmhouse and attempts to procure advanced weapons.
NIA to likely take charge
With more than 18 criminal cases registered against him across India, including in the Moose Wala murder case, the Centre is likely to transfer the investigation to the National Investigation Agency (NIA). Officials stated that Bishnoi’s interrogation will be key in mapping the gang’s financial, logistical, and international crime networks.
