Women’s World Cup: Can South Africa Avenge Their Earlier Defeat Against England Today?

Rain threat looms over Guwahati semi-final

Guwahati: The first semi-final of the Women’s One-Day World Cup will be played today (from 3:00 PM) in Guwahati between England and South Africa. South Africa will be looking to avenge their humiliating loss to the former world champions just 26 days ago at the same venue.

On October 3, England had bundled out South Africa for a mere 69 runs and cruised to victory by 10 wickets at this very ground.

ICC Has Kept a Reserve Day

There is a forecast of rain that may disrupt today’s match. The ICC has scheduled a reserve day for tomorrow.

However, if play is not possible even on the reserve day, the team higher on the points table will advance to the final.

In that case, England will qualify directly, as they finished second with 11 points, while South Africa were third with 10 points.
