
At least eight people died and several others were injured after a pickup truck carrying pilgrims plunged into a deep valley at Chandshaili Ghat in Maharashtra’s Nandurbar district late Friday night. According to police officials, the accident occurred near Makad Tekdi in the Dhadgaon–Taloda area, which falls under the Shahada Police Station’s jurisdiction. Videos showing the aftermath of the tragic crash have surfaced on the internet.
Details of the Accident
Initial reports indicate that the pickup truck was transporting a group of pilgrims who were returning from a temple visit. The driver is believed to have lost control of the vehicle while navigating a sharp turn on the steep ghat section, causing the truck to skid off the road and fall into the valley below.
Rescue operations were immediately launched by local villagers and police teams. The injured were taken to Taloda Sub-District Hospital for emergency medical treatment. Officials have confirmed that eight people were killed on the spot, with at least eight others sustaining serious injuries. Some reports suggest the number of injured could be as high as 28, with 15 of them in critical condition.

Authorities are currently in the process of identifying the deceased and notifying their families. The primary cause of the accident is suspected to be overspeeding on a sharp turn, but an official investigation has been initiated to confirm the details.
Other Fatal Accidents in Maharashtra
In separate incidents on Saturday, Maharashtra reported two other fatal road accidents. According to Lokmat Times, two Myanmar nationals, one of them a 10-year-old child, were killed on the Samruddhi Expressway in Malegaon (Washim district) after their Innova car lost control and crashed into a divider. In another mishap near Shahapur, one person died and two others were injured.
