A Qatar Airways flight from Doha to Hong Kong was diverted to Ahmedabad’s Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport on Tuesday after experiencing a technical issue mid-air. The flight, QR816, made a safe precautionary landing at approximately 2:40 pm.
According to an airport official cited by PTI, a full emergency was declared at the airport at 2:12 pm to ensure a safe landing. The emergency was withdrawn after the aircraft touched down without incident. An airport spokesperson told ANI that regular operations were not affected by the diversion.
The flight had departed from Hamad International Airport in Doha around 9 am. Officials confirmed that the aircraft will undergo a thorough inspection in Ahmedabad before a decision is made to resume its journey to Hong Kong.
