Gauahar Khan’s Heartfelt Take on Motherhood Defies Family Tensions Over Her Career

In a poignant social media reflection, Gauahar Khan has opened up about the joys and challenges of raising her young sons, just days after her father-in-law, renowned music director Ismail Darbar, voiced strong reservations about her professional pursuits following marriage and motherhood.
The Bigg Boss 11 winner shared an intimate Instagram story that captured the whirlwind energy of parenting boys, underscoring her deep commitment to family life amid ongoing public discourse. This comes on the heels of Darbar’s candid revelations in an interview with Vickey Lalwani, where he lauded Khan’s maternal instincts but drew a firm line on her acting career, rooted in traditional family values.
Khan’s post featured a touching quote: “Raising a boy is a beautiful kind of chaos. He runs instead of walks, climbs instead of sits, and shouts instead of whispers—yet he still pauses to kiss your cheek, grab your hand and call you beautiful with peanut butter on his face.” Accompanying the message were clips from her recent projects, signaling her determination to juggle both spheres without compromise. The actor, known for her roles in television and film, appears undeterred by external pressures, emphasizing the rewarding “chaos” that defines her home.

Darbar, in the interview highlighted by India Today, praised Khan’s bond with his son Zaid Darbar, her husband, and affirmed her excellence as a mother. “All I know is that she has a wonderful relationship with Zaid, and that she is a wonderful mother,” he said. “There is no harm in being honest about this. However, the greatest thing my wife Ayesha did was stop working for her child’s sake.”
Yet, the veteran composer was unequivocal about his discomfort with Khan’s on-screen work. Hailing from a conservative background, Darbar explained, “Look, I come from a backward family. We used to turn away whenever a sensuous type of scene would come in a movie. This happens in our house even today. Gauahar is a part of our family now, we are responsible for her reputation. But I can’t tell her not to work; that right only Zaid has. So I don’t indulge in activities that might bother me.”

He went further, asserting his boundaries with characteristic directness: “I’m not one to mince my words. I know that I will not be able to tolerate what I see, and if I am not able to tolerate what I see, I will confront them.” Darbar clarified that while he respects the couple’s autonomy, he would not shy away from voicing concerns if they clashed with his principles, though ultimate decisions rest with Zaid.
The exchange sheds light on the delicate interplay of tradition and modernity within the Darbar household, where Khan has integrated since her marriage to Zaid in December 2020. The couple’s family grew with the arrival of their first son, Zehaan, in May 2023, followed by their second child, Farwaan, born on September 1, 2025.
Khan’s response, through her Instagram reflection, subtly reaffirms her path, blending maternal devotion with career ambition. As media scrutiny intensifies, the 42-year-old actor’s story resonates with many navigating similar balances in the spotlight.
