Navratri Festival Sees Surge 10% Road Accidents and Health Emergencies Across Gujarat

Ahmedabad: The festive season of Navratri has brought an alarming spike in road accidents across Gujarat, with official data showing a 10% increase in cases. On average, 405 people are being injured in traffic incidents every day during the celebrations.

Emergency services revealed that in Ahmedabad alone, 381 people sustained injuries in road accidents over the first four days of the festival. This translates to more than 70 individuals requiring urgent medical care daily in the city due to traffic-related mishaps.

Health emergencies have not been limited to accidents. Across Gujarat, 1,230 people sought emergency medical help for heart-related conditions, including 358 cases reported from Ahmedabad. Respiratory ailments were even more widespread, with as many as 1,732 patients treated during this festive period.

Authorities have appealed to citizens to remain vigilant on the roads during Navratri, stressing that greater caution could help prevent accidents and reduce the mounting pressure on emergency services.
