Dawood-linked drug haul worth Rs 92 crore uncovered in Madhya Pradesh

A remote village on the outskirts of Madhya Pradesh’s Jagdishpura has emerged as a covert hub for synthetic narcotics, with investigators alleging ties to underworld don Dawood Ibrahim and associates Salim Ismail and Umaid-ur-Rehman.

Acting on intelligence, the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) conducted a raid on August 16 at a residential premises, dismantling what officials described as a multi-crore liquid mephedrone (MD) operation allegedly connected to Dawood’s network. Officers recovered 61.20 kg of liquid MD valued at approximately Rs 92 crore, along with 541 kg of precursor chemicals quantities that authorities say could have saturated illicit markets across India.

The probe has revived fears of D-Company’s enduring influence. Once synonymous with extortion, contract killings, and gangland warfare in Mumbai, the syndicate’s footprint, investigators claim, now stretches into the drug trade through financial backers and operatives working behind the scenes. Officials allege the seized raw materials were sufficient to significantly fuel the country’s narcotics black market.

Further investigation is underway to trace the supply chain, funding routes, and the wider network linked to the seized consignment.
