Gujarat ST’s Festive Gift for Janmashtami: Over 1,200 Extra Buses to Run Across Gujarat

Gandhinagar: To ensure that residents across the state can celebrate the holy Shravan month’s Satam and Ashtam–Janmashtami festivals without travel difficulties, the Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation (GSRTC) has planned to operate more than 1,200 additional buses connecting various towns and major cities. This arrangement is expected to benefit over two lakh passengers.

Following directions from Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and under the guidance of Transport Minister Harsh Sanghavi, the GSRTC operates extra bus services during major festivals and fairs each year to ensure citizens face no inconvenience in commuting.

For Janmashtami 2025, GSRTC has scheduled around 1,200 extra trips, with a focus on major urban centers such as Ahmedabad, Rajkot, Surat, Mehsana, and Vadodara, based on anticipated demand. In addition, special bus services will be run to key religious and cultural destinations including Dakork, Dwarka, and Shamlaji, as well as other important district and taluka-level locations during the festival.

It is noteworthy that last year, 1,000 extra trips were arranged for Janmashtami festival travel. This year, in view of greater public demand, the number has been increased to 1,200 trips to better cater to passenger needs and ensure safety.
