Animated Epic ‘Mahavatar Narsimha’ Breaks Records as First Hindi Film to Hit ₹100 Crore

In a historic achievement for Indian animation, Mahavatar Narsimha, produced by Hombale Films and Kleem Productions, has become the first animated Hindi film to surpass ₹100 crore in net box office collections in India. According to Sacnilk, the film reached this milestone in just 13 days, driven by strong audience support and positive word-of-mouth.

The animated epic, rooted in Indian mythology, opened to a modest ₹1.75 crore on its first day. However, its performance surged dramatically over the first weekend, with collections jumping to ₹15.4 crore on Saturday and ₹23.4 crore on Sunday. This remarkable growth continued into the second week, with the film earning ₹15 crore on its second Saturday alone. By day 12, Mahavatar Narsimha had amassed ₹97 crore, inching closer to the coveted ₹100 crore mark, which it crossed shortly after. The film’s total worldwide gross has now exceeded ₹150 crore, including earnings from its releases in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam.

Directed by Ashwin Kumar, Mahavatar Narsimha has outperformed previous benchmarks in Indian animation, overtaking Hanuman (₹5.38 crore lifetime) to claim the title of the highest-grossing animated film in Hindi cinema. Its success is attributed to its compelling storytelling and devotional themes, which have resonated deeply with audiences. Industry observers note that the film’s modest ₹20 crore budget has yielded an impressive return on investment, marking it as a significant triumph for Hombale Films, known for blockbusters like KGF and Kantara.

Social media buzz, particularly on X, has amplified the film’s success, with fans and industry insiders celebrating its record-breaking run. Posts on X have hailed Mahavatar Narsimha as a “game-changer” for Indian animation, with one user noting its “insane ROI” and another calling it a “historic blockbuster.” The film’s strong performance has also outshone recent releases like Saiyaara and Son of Sardaar 2, solidifying its dominance at the box office.

As Mahavatar Narsimha continues its theatrical run, it has set a new standard for animated films in India, proving that compelling narratives and cultural resonance can drive unprecedented commercial success.
