Assam Man Found Safe After Viral In-Flight Panic Attack and Assault

A 32-year-old man from Assam, Hussain Ahmed Majumdar, who vanished after a distressing incident aboard an IndiGo flight from Mumbai to Kolkata, has been located, according to reports. Majumdar, who experienced a panic attack during the flight, was slapped by another passenger, an event captured in a video that rapidly spread across social media platforms.
The incident occurred on IndiGo Flight 6E-2387 on July 31, as Majumdar was traveling to visit his ailing father in Silchar, Assam. He had boarded the Mumbai-Kolkata leg of his journey but failed to take his scheduled connecting flight to Silchar. Instead, he boarded a train from Kolkata to Barpeta, Assam, approximately 400 kilometers from his intended destination. On Saturday, authorities confirmed Majumdar’s location at a railway station in Barpeta, with a police officer from Katigorah stating, “The individual arrived at Barpeta in Assam after the flight landed in Kolkata. He took the train to Barpeta and is now on his way to Silchar.”
The altercation on the flight involved another passenger, Hafijul Rahman, who slapped Majumdar during his panic attack, claiming it was due to the disruption caused. The cabin crew intervened, and Rahman was handed over to security personnel upon landing in Kolkata, though he was later released. Majumdar, a Mumbai-based worker, was traveling to see his father, who is battling cancer, his family told . His uncle, Joglu Mazumder, noted that Majumdar had spoken to his wife and parents before boarding the flight from Mumbai but became unreachable afterward, prompting concern when his family saw the viral video.
The incident sparked significant attention, with IndiGo and local authorities working to address the situation. Majumdar’s safe recovery at the Barpeta railway station has eased his family’s fears, and he is now en route to reunite with them in Silchar.
