Fire Breaks Out In Surat Apartment; Family Of 4 Trapped In Balcony Rescued Safely
Family Brought Down By Using 35-Foot Ladder

A massive fire broke out in a flat of an apartment in the Jahangirabad locality of Surat. A family of four, who lived in the flat, got awake by the fire and immediately gathered in the balcony as it was not possible to go out of the house due to the fire. Fire brigade teams from 3 fire stations reached the apartments and undertook rescue operations.
In the wee hours of the morning of July 18, around 3:26 AM, a fire broke out in the Flat No. 302 on the third floor of the B building of Vaishnodevi Blue Bliss Apartment. The fire had taken place in the kitchen of the house. Vinod Patel resides in the flat with his family, including a wife (Maya Patel) and two sons (Nandan Patel, Kashyap Patel). The family woke up due to the fire and the smoke, but realized that since the fire had taken a fierce form, it was not possible to get out of the house. Hence, all four of them gathered in the balcony.
The Surat Fire Control Room received a call about the incident. The Fire Control Room gave a fire-and-rescue call to the Morabhagal, Palanpur, and Adajan fire stations. The fire brigade teams immediately reached the location and initiated the rescue of the trapped family.

The fire engine was halted under the balcony of the flat. All four family members, who were trapped in the balcony, were safely brought down by the firemen by using a 35-foot ladder. After the 4 of them were brought down unharmed, the firemen proceeded to extinguish the fire. Meanwhile, an ambulance was called and the family was given first-aid.
The fire was brought under control after about one and a half hour. From the kitchen, the fire had spread to the hall. Moreover, all the furniture and appliances of the kitchen, along with all the furniture of the hall, got burnt and damaged in the fire. Although the cause of the fire is not known yet, it is being speculated that a short circuit in the fridge caused the fire. Luckily, no casualties have been reported.
