Gunmen Execute Gangster in Patna Hospital, CCTV Captures Brazen Attack; Watch Video

In a shocking display of violence, five armed men entered Paras Hospital in Patna on Thursday morning, fatally shooting convicted gangster Chandan Mishra, who was admitted for medical treatment while on parole. The chilling incident, captured on CCTV, has raised serious concerns about security and law enforcement in Bihar’s capital.
The CCTV footage, widely circulated on social media, shows the assailants casually walking through a hospital corridor, drawing pistols from beneath their shirts before entering Room 209, where Mishra was being treated. The group swiftly carried out the attack, with one gunman struggling briefly to free his weapon from his clothing. After firing multiple shots, four of the men fled through the corridor, while the fifth exited calmly, underscoring the audacity of the crime.
Mishra, a notorious criminal serving a life sentence for the 2011 murder of businessman Rajendra Keshri, succumbed to his injuries. He had been granted a 15-day medical parole, set to end on July 18, and was recovering from liver surgery at Paras Hospital. Authorities suspect the killing was a targeted act driven by gang rivalry, possibly linked to Mishra’s association with interstate gold robber Santosh Singh. Mishra had over 20 criminal cases against him, including charges of murder, bank robbery, and dacoity.
Patna’s Central Range Inspector General Jitendra Rana indicated that the investigation is exploring potential involvement of police security guards, stating, “It cannot be ruled out that the security guards of the police were involved in this incident. We will investigate this angle also.” The police are analyzing additional CCTV footage from the hospital’s reception, entry points, and corridors, with forensic teams and a dog squad deployed to assist in the probe.
The daylight execution has intensified scrutiny of Bihar’s law and order situation, particularly following a series of recent high-profile killings in Patna. The incident underscores the challenges of maintaining security in public spaces and the persistent threat of gang-related violence in the region.
