Shikohpur Land Deal Case : ED Files Chargesheet Against Robert Vadra, 43 Properties Attached

New Delhi : The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has filed a chargesheet against businessman Robert Vadra, the brother-in-law of the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, in connection with a money laundering case. Official of ED said after completing their investigation, a prosecution complaint was filed at the Rouse Avenue Court against 11 individuals or entities: Robert Vadra and his entities, including M/s Sky Light Hospitality Pvt Ltd and others.

The ED initiated its investigation on the basis of an FIR registered by the Gurgaon police on September 1, 2018. The FIR alleges that Vadra, through Sky Light Hospitality Pvt Ltd, fraudulently purchased 3.53 acres of land in Shikohpur village in Gurgaon’s Sector 83. Probe has revealed that the commercial license was also obtained by Robert Vadra on the land through his personal influence, the ED official said. Criticising the move as “political vendetta”, Vadra had in April this year claimed that attempts were made to silence him and Rahul Gandhi. “When I speak in favour of the country, I am stopped, Rahul is stopped from speaking in Parliament.

Skylight Hospitality, which Vadra had launched in 2007 with a capital of Rs 1 lakh, bought about 3.5 acres of land in Manesar-Shikohpur in Gurgaon from Onkareshwar Properties for Rs 7.5 crore. The plot was mutated in favour of Skylight the next day, and the title of the land was reportedly transferred to Vadra within 24 hours of the purchase. This process usually takes at least three months.
