Husband Brutally Kills Wife In Bharuch, Dumps Body In Canal

Bharuch: A chilling crime has come to light from Valia taluka, where a man murdered his wife, after ongoing domestic disputes. The couple reportedly met through a matrimonial website and got married 5 years back. The accused then dumped her body in a remote canal, but was later arrested by the police. The case has shocked the local community and is widely being discussed in the region.

The incident unfolded on 10 July evening when locals discovered the bloodied body of an unidentified woman in a canal along the Dodwada-Kondh road near Kondh village in Valia. The body bore injuries on the neck from a sharp weapon. Valia police and the Bharuch Crime Branch reached the scene and launched an investigation.

Identifying the victim was the first major challenge. Police circulated her photograph on social media, which helped identify the deceased as Ruchi Awasthi, originally from Lucknow and residing in Shivkrupa Bungalows, Ankleshwar GIDC. Further inquiries revealed that Ruchi’s husband, Rajendra Srivastava, was behind the murder. The couple had met in 2019 through a matrimonial platform and later married. However, their relationship was marred by frequent domestic disputes. In a fit of rage, Rajendra allegedly slit Ruchi’s throat with a sharp weapon. He then wrapped her body in a bedsheet and dumped it approximately 8 kilometers away, near Kondh village, before fleeing the scene.

However, using human intelligence and technical surveillance, Valia police and the Crime Branch were able to track down and arrest Rajendra Srivastava. He has been formally charged with murder, and legal proceedings are underway. The victim’s body has been sent for post-mortem examination, and further investigation is ongoing.

The couple has a 4-years-old son. This tragic case highlights the deadly consequences of unresolved domestic conflict and has become a hot topic of discussion throughout the area.
