Mumbai: Speeding BEST Bus Slams Into Seized Truck in Goregaon, 5 Injured

Mumbai: BEST bus crashed into a stationary truck in Goregaon on Friday morning, injuring five people, including the bus driver. The truck, previously seized by police in connection with a theft case, was parked at the site of the collision. Authorities from Vanrai Police Station are probing the incident to uncover its cause.

Visuals Reveal Extent of Crash Damage

A video circulating online captures the aftermath, showing the BEST bus with its front severely damaged and the passenger exit door warped from the impact. The truck’s rear also sustained significant damage. Both vehicles blocked the roadway, drawing a crowd of onlookers recording the scene on their phones.

Police are investigating whether speeding or negligence played a role. There’s speculation that the seized truck, left in a lane without proper markers, may have contributed to the crash.

Recent BEST Bus Incident Recalled

This accident comes on the heels of another BEST bus collision on June 23 near Sayani Road. In that incident, a bus on Route 162, operated by Tata Motors-led BVG Group, collided with a poultry-carrying tempo (MH 10 CR 9534) around 7:15 am. The tempo veered unexpectedly, striking the bus’s front-left side, shattering its windshield and causing minor damage. No injuries were reported, and officials from Worli Bus Depot confirmed that a complaint was filed at Dadar Police Station, with all protocols followed.

Vanrai Police continue to investigate the latest crash to determine accountability and prevent future incidents.
