Construction Worker Dies On Site Due To Lack Of Safety Measures In Mehsana
Incident Exposes Contractor's Negligence

A tragic incident took place in Mehsana, as a construction worker died on site while working. The death of the worker has exposed the negligence of the contractor, as no security provisions had been arranged for the workers.
Apparently, construction work of the Mehsana Civil was going on when the worker fell down on the ground from a height. As a result, he died on the spot. There were reportedly no security provisions arranged by the contractor for the laborers, due to which the mishap took place.
As per information, the contractor had received a notice from the PIU (Project Implementation Unit) multiple times in the past, regarding safety measures. However, the contractor had not paid any heed to it and thus, safety precautions were not arranged. Now, due to lack of security and safety at the construction site, a death has taken place.
Meanwhile, the contractor has not spoken anything on the issue. On the other hand, any compensation amount or ex-gratia to the deceased’s family has not been announced yet by the contractor or the government. The body of the deceased has been sent for post-mortem by the police, who are investigating the matter by interrogating other workers.
This issue has thrown light on the safety of construction workers on site. There have been numerous cases where workers die due to falling from elevated work areas. On-site risks also include getting injured from hazardous equipment, falling ill due to working in high temperatures, getting struck by sharp objects, among others. It is important to prioritize the safety of construction workers and laborers, as they are the backbone of any construction project.
