Surat Model’s Suicide Sparks Outrage: Family Blames Fiance For Mental Harassment And False Promises

Surat: The suicide of 23-year-old model Anjali Varmora has taken a dark turn as new details emerge, revealing a troubling story of emotional abuse, caste-based discrimination, and shattered promises. Her family has come forward with serious allegations against her fiance, Chintan Agravat, accusing him of playing a role in her death.
Anjali, who recently began her modeling career, had been working with Revenue Model Casting Agency and collaborating on projects in Surat and Ahmedabad. Described by her family as ambitious and dedicated, she had the full support of her loved ones as she chased her dreams in the fashion industry. However, behind her rising public profile was a turbulent private life.
According to police reports, Anjali had been in a relationship with Chintan Agravat for several years after the two met on Instagram. Their romance culminated in a formal engagement, with a wedding initially planned for the end of 2024. However, following the death of Chintan’s mother, the marriage was postponed, and never rescheduled.
What followed, Anjali’s family claims, was a pattern of avoidance, emotional neglect, and subtle caste-based humiliation. Probe has found that Chintan constantly spoke ill of Anjali of her caste background, saying their marriage wouldn’t be accepted by his family or society. He allegedly gave her false hopes and manipulated her emotions.

In the hours leading up to her death, Anjali made a flurry of phone calls, 23 in total, 12 of which were to Chintan. The two reportedly spoke for 16 minutes before communication abruptly ended. She also reached out to her mother, siblings, and brother-in-law, possibly hinting at distress.
That same night, Anjali was found dead by suicide in her residence at Kartik Apartments in Navsari Bazaar, where she lived with her mother and siblings. Her father had passed away in an accident two years earlier, and the family had been relying on her mother’s income.
The Athwa Lines police have registered a case of abetment to suicide against Chintan Agravat and have begun an in-depth investigation into the circumstances leading to Anjali’s death. Officials are examining call records, WhatsApp messages, and testimonies from friends and family.
Police sources confirmed that caste-related verbal abuse is part of the allegations under review. As the investigation unfolds, Anjali Varmora’s family seeks justice, not only for her death but for the silent suffering she might have endured behind closed doors.
