India U-19 Clinch 2-1 Series Lead as 14-Year-Old Vaibhav Suryavanshi Shatters Six-Hitting Record

Nottingham: Riding on a sensational innings by 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi, the Indian Under-19 team defeated hosts England U-19 by four wickets with 33 balls to spare in the third ODI of the five-match youth series. The win gave India a 2-1 series lead.
Suryavanshi was the undisputed hero of the match, hammering 86 runs off just 31 balls, including 9 sixes and 6 fours, to set a new Indian record for most sixes in a U-19 ODI innings. He broke the previous record of 8 sixes set by Mandeep Singh.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi scored the second-fastest fifty by an Indian in Under-19 ODIs, reaching it in 20 balls against England. The fastest is Rishabh Pant’s 18-ball fifty vs Nepal in 2016.

After early damage with skipper Abhigyan Kundu falling cheaply, Suryavanshi stitched a 73-run stand with Vihaan Malhotra. Following a mini-collapse, Kanishk Chauhan and Ambareesh guided the chase with a composed unbeaten 75-run partnership for the sixth wicket.

Suryavanshi’s aggressive knock peaked during England pacer Sebastian Morgan’s two overs, where he smashed 4 sixes and a four, and also took 23 runs off James Minto’s over, turning the match decisively in India’s favor.
