India vs Pakistan Could Clash Thrice in Upcoming Asia Cup

New Delhi – Any India-Pakistan cricket match captures global attention, and this year, following the high-stakes “Operation Sindoor” carried out by Indian armed forces in May, tensions are even higher. Now, reports suggest that the two arch-rivals could face each other up to three times in the T20-format Asia Cup scheduled for September in the UAE (United Arab Emirates).

This will be the first cricketing encounter between India and Pakistan since Indian forces decisively overpowered Pakistani troops in just three days during the operation. Emotions are sure to run high as defending champions India look to send a strong message to their neighbors through the sport.

The tournament’s structure increases the chances of multiple India-Pakistan clashes:

The first match is expected to take place during the group stage on September 7. If both teams qualify for the Super Four round, they are likely to meet again on September 14. Should they both make it to the final, fans could witness a third and climactic showdown on September 21.

The Asia Cup 2025 will be played between September 5 and 21, involving six teams: India, Pakistan, host UAE, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan.

Since this is a T20 tournament, there’s a strong possibility that Suryakumar Yadav will once again be entrusted with India’s captaincy, as he has led the team successfully in this format before.
