Gujarat Government Announces Substantial Hike in Travel Allowances for Judicial Bailiffs

Ahmedabad: The state administration has implemented another employee-friendly policy decision that significantly benefits bailiff staff operating within Gujarat’s judicial framework. Under this new directive, the monthly Fixed Traveling Allowance (F.T.A.) for bailiff personnel has been substantially increased from the existing Rs. 200 to Rs. 2,500, bringing it in line with allowances provided to other state government categories.
The enhancement in travel allowances comes as a direct result of successful advocacy by the Gujarat State Judicial Bailiff Association, whose proposals received favorable consideration from the state government. This wage improvement initiative demonstrates the administration’s commitment to supporting judicial support staff across the state.
The revised allowance structure took effect from July 1, 2025, covering all bailiff employees currently serving in Gujarat’s judicial department. This represents a twelve-fold increase in the travel allowance component, reflecting the government’s recognition of the transportation costs these officials incur while performing their duties.
The financial implications of this decision are considerable for the state treasury. The enhanced allowance structure will create an additional recurring monthly expenditure of Rs. 34.77 lakhs for the government. On an annual basis, this translates to a permanent financial commitment of Rs. 4.18 crores, representing a significant investment in the welfare of judicial support staff.
This development aligns with the state government’s broader approach to improving compensation packages for various employee categories, ensuring that allowances remain relevant to current economic conditions and operational requirements.
