Young Man Kills Father Over Money Dispute In Ahmedabad, Attacks Sister During Altercation

Ahmedabad: In a disturbing incident of patricide in Ahmedabad’s Vadaj area, a young man fatally stabbed his father after an argument over money turned violent. The accused, identified as Dilip Meghwal, also attacked his sister when she tried to intervene, leaving her injured. The shocking crime occurred around 5 AM on June 27.

According to police reports, Dilip, who recently took up a job with a modest monthly salary of ₹10,000, frequently demanded money from his father, Durgaram despite his income. His father, who ran a small shop, had grown frustrated with the constant demands and had refused to give him more money. This led to several arguments between the two in the past.

On the morning of the murder, Dilip reportedly attacked his father with a knife while he was still at home. When his sister tried to save their father, he turned on her as well, stabbing her in the process.

Before succumbing to his injuries, the victim allegedly told his youngest son, Nikhil, “I refused to give Dilip money. He lost his temper again, just like he had many times before. I even scolded him to teach him a lesson. That’s why he did this.”

Police have arrested Dilip Meghwal and filed charges of murder and attempted murder. The injured sister is currently being treated in the hospital.

Investigations revealed that Dilip was pursuing mechanical engineering course in Jaipur but had repeatedly failed in exams. So, he had left college. Though he recently started working, he continued to pressure his father for money. Sources say his father had physically reprimanded him on multiple occasions, trying to instill discipline. The resentment apparently built up over time, culminating in the deadly outburst.

Authorities are continuing their inquiry and have assured the public that the case will be pursued with urgency.
