Man’s Body Found Inside Drum In Ludhiana, Neck, Legs Tied With Rope; No Injury Marks Visible On Body

Ludhiana : A man’s decomposed body was found wrapped in a plastic sack inside a blue drum in Punjab’s Ludhiana. His neck and legs were tied with a rope, thus raising strong suspicion of foul play. The case came to light after a foul smell began spreading in the neighbourhood, following which the locals informed the police about the same.

Kulwant Kaur, Station House Officer (SHO), told media that the man appeared to be a migrant. The deceased looks like a migrant based on facial features. There are no injury marks on the body as of now, though its condition is bad. The post-mortem will reveal the exact cause and circumstances of death, she added. The body has been sent to the mortuary at the Civil Hospital for postmortem.

Investigating officers have compiled a list of as many as 42 drum manufacturing units in Ludhiana. The one in which the body was found appeared to be brand new, suggesting the possibility of a premeditated murder. There is suspicion that the drum was freshly bought before the killing, police sources told.

Police have begun scanning CCTV footage of areas within a 5-kilometre radius of the crime scene. Footage from city cameras, railway stations, and bus stands is being reviewed. Additionally, police are tracking the route and checking several suspicious vehicle registration numbers. Many drum companies are being questioned, SHO Kaur said.
