Gujarat Bypolls Results: AAP Scores Historic Win In Visavadar, BJP Dominates Kadi

Ahmedabad: Gujarat’s recent assembly bypolls delivered contrasting results for key political parties, with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) making a strong statement in Visavadar, while the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) tightened its grip on Kadi with a resounding victory. In a major political breakthrough, Gopal Italia, one of AAP’s most recognizable faces in Gujarat, secured a decisive win in Visavadar.

After 21 intense rounds of counting, Italia defeated his BJP rival by a margin of 17,581 votes. He secured 75,906 votes, while the BJP candidate managed 58,325. Congress, once dominant in Saurashtra, was reduced to the sidelines with a mere 5,491 votes.

The victory sparked celebrations across AAP’s local units, with party workers chanting slogans of “Jay Gopal” and bursting crackers. AAP MLA Hemant Khava led celebrations in Jamjodhpur, hailing the win as a sign of growing trust in the party’s grassroots agenda. This marks a historic moment for AAP in Saurashtra, with Italia securing over 51% of the total vote share, signaling a shift in the region’s political dynamics.

While AAP rejoiced in Visavadar, the BJP maintained its dominance in Kadi, where Rajendra Chavda emerged victorious with a landslide margin of 38,904 votes. Chavda collected 98,836 votes, comfortably ahead of the Congress candidate, who received 59,932. AAP had a minimal impact in the region, managing only 3,077 votes, reflecting its limited reach in north-central Gujarat.

While the BJP remains firmly in control of the state, AAP’s win in Visavadar reflects the party’s growing footprint in Gujarat’s political landscape, especially among younger and rural voters. On the other hand, Congress continues to struggle to regain relevance.
