Pak Condemns US Strike On Iran Day After Nominating Trump For Nobel Peace Prize

New Delhi : A day after hailing United States President Donald Trump for his decisive diplomatic intervention in last month’s India-Pakistan standoff and backing him for the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize, Pakistan on Sunday sharply criticised Washington’s military strikes on Iranian nuclear sites.

In a post on its official X account, Pakistan’s foreign affairs ministry said that the US strikes violate all norms of international law,” adding that Iran has every right to defend itself under the United Nations Charter. We are gravely concerned at the possible further escalation of tensions in the region. The unprecedented escalation of tension and violence, owing to ongoing aggression against Iran, is deeply disturbing.

Pakistan, which shares 900-km border with Iran, urged an immediate end to hostilities between Israel and Iran, stressing that diplomacy, not military escalation, is the only sustainable route to peace. Recourse to dialogue, diplomacy, in line with the principles and purposes of the UN Charter remain the only viable pathway to resolve the crises in the region, it noted.

The Pakistani government had on Saturday had said it has decided to formally nominate Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize next year. The Government of Pakistan has decided to formally recommend President Donald J Trump for the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize, in recognition of his decisive diplomatic intervention and pivotal leadership during the recent India-Pakistan crisis, it had said.
