Trump Predicts Swift Iran-Israel Peace Deal, Cites India-Pakistan Success

U.S. President Donald Trump expressed confidence on Sunday that Iran and Israel will soon reach a ceasefire agreement, drawing parallels to his claimed role in brokering peace between India and Pakistan. In a statement posted on his social media platform, Truth Social, Trump suggested that ongoing discussions and meetings are paving the way for a resolution between the two Middle Eastern nations.

Trump asserted that his intervention has led to de-escalation in several global conflicts, though he lamented receiving little recognition for these efforts. He specifically highlighted a recent ceasefire between India and Pakistan following last month’s armed tensions, claiming he facilitated the agreement. However, India has refuted Trump’s assertions, stating that Pakistan initiated the ceasefire through direct military communication.

Trump wrote, “Iran and Israel should make a deal, and will make a deal, just like I got India and Pakistan to make.” He emphasized that his diplomatic approach, including leveraging trade with the United States, was instrumental in resolving the India-Pakistan conflict, describing the process as bringing “reason, cohesion, and sanity” to negotiations. Trump cited other examples of his peacemaking, including tensions between Serbia and Kosovo, as well as Egypt and Ethiopia over the Nile River dam.

The ongoing conflict between Israel and Iran has intensified, with Israel launching airstrikes on Iranian nuclear and military targets since Friday, prompting retaliatory missile and drone attacks from Tehran. Trump’s comments come amid international calls for de-escalation, as the region faces the risk of a broader war.

India’s external affairs ministry has maintained a neutral stance, expressing concern over the Middle East escalation and offering support to both Israel and Iran. The ministry clarified India’s position on Saturday, distancing itself from a Shanghai Cooperation Organisation statement condemning Israel’s strikes.

Trump’s remarks reflect his ongoing narrative of personal involvement in global diplomacy, though the extent of his influence in the cited conflicts remains contested. As the Israel-Iran hostilities continue, the prospect of a ceasefire deal remains uncertain, with both nations exchanging attacks over the weekend.
