A shocking case has surfaced in Umarwada of Surat, wherein a 15-year-old girl got in touch with a 25-year-old man through social media, and eventually got pregnant due to engaging into physical relationship with him.
Apparently, the 15-year-old girl got into contact with the 25-year-old man on social media. They gradually became close and even exchanged each other’s phone numbers. The man trapped the girl into a love affair; he became physically intimate with the girl frequently. As a result, the girl got 4 months pregnant.
The man, identified as Pankaj Saroj, met the girl frequently and had physical relations with her often, due to which the girl became pregnant. The incident came to light when the girl became ill and had to be taken to the hospital.
The girl’s mother informed that the girl experienced difficulty in breathing, and pain in the stomach, owing to which she was taken to the hospital. After she got well, she was taken back to home. Then again, on June 3, she was taken to the SMIMER Hospital, where the doctor checked her and declared that she was pregnant.
The girl’s family then asked her about the matter, in which she told them about Pankaj, and how he had allegedly raped her multiple times. The girl’s family informed the Puna Police about everything. The police have registered a case of rape against Pankaj and arrested him. Further investigations are on.
Meanwhile, the girl’s family has filed a petition in the Surat sessions court seeking permission for abortion. Currently, the girl has been kept under observation in the ICU.
This case has raised concerns about safety of teenagers using social media. Numerous cases are there, in which teenagers and young adults invite trouble by getting into contact with unknown people. It is crucial that parents keep a watch on their children, so as to avoid such mishaps.
