BSF Proposes Naming One Post After Operation ‘Sindoor’, Two Others After Fallen Personnel

New Delhi: The Border Security Force (BSF) has proposed renaming one of its posts in the Samba sector of Jammu and Kashmir as “Sindoor,” a tribute to a recent operation against cross-border threats. Additionally, two other posts are proposed to be named in honor of BSF personnel who were martyred during shelling by Pakistani forces on May 10.

Shashank Anand, Inspector General of the BSF Jammu Frontier, shared details of the incident, stating that three security personnel, sub-Inspector Mohammad Imtiyaz, constable Deepak Kumar, and Army jawan Sunil Kumar, were killed while attempting to intercept hostile drones sent across the border.

“On the morning of May 10, low-flying drones were deployed by Pakistan to target our posts. Our personnel were actively engaging them when one drone dropped a payload, leading to the unfortunate deaths of our brave jawans,” He shared. In recognition of their sacrifice, IG Anand announced: “We propose to name two of our posts on our personnel we have lost, and one post to be named ‘Sindoor’ in the Samba sector.”

He also praised the role of BSF’s women personnel during the post-attack operations. “BSF’s women personnel fought on forward duty posts during Operation Sindoor. Our brave women personnel, Assistant Commandant Neha Bhandari commanded a forward post, Constable Manjit Kaur, Constable Malkit Kaur, Constable Jyoti, Constable Sampa and Constable Swapna and others fought on forward posts against Pakistan during this operation,” Anand said.

Speaking on the security situation, Anand warned of ongoing threats along the Line of Control (LoC) and International Border (IB). “We are getting many inputs regarding terrorists returning to their launch pads & camps and possible infiltration along LoC & IB. Security Forces will have to remain alert.”
