Bolton stated that Trump’s move to take credit for brokering the truce was not specifically aimed at India but rather reflected his typical behavior of seeking recognition for achievements.

Bolton suggested that Trump likely held discussions with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, possibly joined by Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio, as part of the diplomatic efforts surrounding the ceasefire. The remarks follow heightened tensions between India and Pakistan, sparked by India’s Operation Sindoor, which involved targeted strikes on May 7 against terror infrastructure linked to groups like Lashkar-e-Taiba, Jaish-e-Mohammed, and Hizbul Mujahideen in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
