SouthPort attack : The terrible day of our lives ; Leanne Lucas (Yoga Instructor)
Southport, UK : Leanne Lucas, the instructor of the taylor-swift themed children’s dance and yoga class which was the target of the deadly stabbing killing 3 minor and injuring 10. The accused named Axel Rudakubana, has been detained and is being sentenced to life. Furtherly, in an interview the yoga instructor explained how the incidence has disturbed the surrounding.
What actually occurred ?
On 29th July, 2024 the mass stabbing targeting girls had occurred at the Hart space, the dance studio on the streets of Meols Cop area of Southport, Merseyside, United Kingdom. Shortly before the attack the accused Axel Rudakubana had reached the dance studio by hiring a cab and got down at the studio without paying the fare. Six-year-old Bebe King and seven-year-old Elsie Dot Stancombe died at the scene,and nine-year-old Alice da Silva Aguiar died in hospital the following day.Wearing a surgical mask and green hoodie and armed with a 20-centimetre-long (8 in) kitchen knife entered the alley by stabbing the girls profusely. The workshop was organised by yoga instructor named Leanne Lucas and Heidi Liddle. Lucas was badly injured by the preparator while saving and escaping the childrens out of the class through the exit door. Another teacher had hide a child inside the bathroom. The whole incident had terrified the surrounding,no specific reason had been identified behind the stabbing therefore the court had imprisoned the accused also sentencing him to life .
The yoga teacher furtherly expressed the tragic incident through her own . The teacher Leanne Lucas furtherly explained ; He moves through the girls by the table and moves next to me, Leanne furtherly added, reliving the scene in her mind. I just felt something go in my back and my brain just said he got me. Leanne suffered five stab wounds to her spine, her head, her ribs, her lung, and her shoulder blade. Despite this, she managed to get herself and several of the girls out of the room and call the police. I just knew that if I didn’t get out everyone was going to die, she explained while wiping tears from her eyes. He was bigger than me. And I just thought: I need to get some help. So we all run towards the door. We were shouting and than I called 999 on the landing and I asked for the police , remembering the horrific incident the teacher had mentally suffered a lot. She furtherly explained that the overcome of this incident was very hard for her and the environment . The remarkable memories has had us going forward and accepting the upcoming hurdles says Leanne Lucas.
Life imprisonment to the accused
The incident took away three girls lives , injuring 10 others. The accused named Axel Rudakubana had been arrested at the scene with the charges of three counts of murder, 10 counts of attempted murder and a possession of a bladed article. He was later separately charged under the Biological Weapons Act 1974 and Terrorism Act 2000. He pleaded guilty to all 16 charges on 20 January 2025, when his trial was due to begin, having initially entered a not-guilty plea.
