BREAKING: Pakistan has breached the understanding, Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri

India’s Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri announced on May 10 that Pakistan violated a newly agreed ceasefire within hours of its implementation. Speaking at a press conference, Misri said, “An understanding was reached this evening between the DGMOs of India and Pakistan to halt ongoing military operations. However, this agreement has already been breached by Pakistan. The Indian Army is responding to the intrusion. We strongly condemn this violation and hold Pakistan fully accountable. We urge Pakistan to act responsibly and stop this incursion immediately.”

The ceasefire, set to take effect at 5:00 PM IST on May 10, was confirmed by Misri and supported by External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar. While affirming the truce, Jaishankar emphasized that India would maintain its firm position against terrorism in all forms.

According to Misri, Pakistan’s Director General of Military Operations contacted his Indian counterpart at 3:35 PM on Saturday, and both agreed to cease all military activity across land, air, and sea starting from 5:00 PM IST. Orders were issued on both sides to enforce this agreement. The DGMOs are scheduled to speak again on May 12 at noon.

In response to the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, India has taken multiple retaliatory steps, including suspending the Indus Waters Treaty, expelling Pakistani diplomats, recalling Indian personnel from Islamabad, and sealing the Attari border. Additionally, New Delhi has shut down its airspace to Pakistani aircraft, banned trade and shipping from Pakistan, and even blocked the Instagram accounts of several Pakistani celebrities and cricketers.
