Mumbai, Thane, Pune to Get High-Tech Smart Parking Solution, Government Announces

Maharashtra: The Chief Minister of Maharashtra, addressed parking challenges regarding Mumbai, Thane, Pune with a new policy. The government of Maharashtra led by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has come up with an idea of developing a new parking policy. The Chief minister had announced during a ceremony in Worli, highlighted that the need for mapping parking spaces and a creation of software application that allows the drivers to find and rent parking slots.

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on 2nd March, addressed that the government is developing a Parking Policy for Maharashtra. He announced that he would direct the municipal authorities of these cities to identify parking areas and to develop a software app that the motorists/driver could use to locate the availability of the spots for the rent. CM announced the groundbreaking event for the state transport department’s headquarters located in Worli, he furtherly stated ‘ To begin with, these two tasks of mapping and developing an app must be completed, after which we can examine parking enforcement. In the future, if a driver lacks a parking spot, they can rent one via this app.’

What is Parking Policy ?

The BMC (Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation) is currently developing the “Automatic Parking Guidance and Management System”, which showcases a digital payment mechanism to strengthen the parking management across Maharashtra. The parking sites of more than 3,000 has been identified for this digitization, which will allow real-time updates on parking availability and will enable advance booking.
