Congress Reprimands Shama Mohamed Over Fat-Shaming Post About Rohit Sharma
New Delhi : A huge controversy has sparked up after a Congress leader’s comment on Indian Cricket Team Captain Rohit Sharma. The controversy feud up as the congress leader Shama Mohammed made a comment on Rohit Sharma’s sizeism. The comment of her is going viral on social media, resulting the replies by Congress and BCCI.
Congress : Does not endorse…. on Shama Mohammed’s comment !
Congress’s National Spokesperson of the Indian National Party made certain comments about the weight issues of Indian Cricket team captain” Rohit Sharma”. The Congress party has furtherly stated that they does not endorse any statements that undermine anyone or their legacy. The all India Congress Committee member, Pawan Khera has posted on his social media account stating that Shama Mohammed’s is asked to delete her post regarding the comment, stating the congress party the comment passed by her doesn’t reflect the party’s position. Pawan Khera further stated, Dr.Shama Mohammed, National Spokesperson of the Indian National Congress, made certain remarks about a cricketing legend that do not reflect the party’s position. She has been asked to delete the concerned social media posts from X and has been advised to exercise greater caution in the future. The Indian National Congress holds the contributions of sporting icons in the highest regard and does not endorse any statements that undermine their legacy.
BCCI’s Secretary on the controversy:
Devajit Saikia the secretary of BCCI has spoken on this controversy stating that ” its very unfortunate that this kind of remark for our captain Rohit Sharma has come from a person who is on a responsible post, especially at a time when Team India is playing an ICC tournament and the team is all set to play the semi-final match “. Making such trivial comments on a person is unfortunate says the secretary.
Shama Mohammed’s clarification :
Congress Spokesperson Shama Mohammed clarified after deleting he post that the purpose of my tweet was not to insult anyone. The purpose behind this was only to say that Rohit is overweight in the name of being a player a sports player. I have not done any body’s body shaming and neither this refers as body shaming. I have been attacked for no reason . when I compared him with previous captains , I put in a statement. I have the right to say, what’s wrong in saying ? It is a democracy”.. says Shama Mohammed.
