BMC Demolishes Over 60 Illegal Structures And Stalls In Borivali And Kandivali

[From Our Correspondent]
Mumbai: The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation’s (BMC) ‘R-Central’ ward carried out a major anti-encroachment drive in the Mahavir Nagar area of Borivali (West) and Kandivali (West) on Friday, February 20, demolishing 25 illegal constructions and 35 unauthorised stalls.
The action is part of an ongoing crackdown against illegal structures across Mumbai, being conducted under the directives of BMC Commissioner Bhushan Gagrani. Encroachments on roads and footpaths, along with illegal construction, have been causing significant inconvenience to pedestrians and motorists across the city.
The drive comes in the wake of a High Court reprimand to the civic administration over encroachments by hawkers on footpaths and roads, prompting the BMC to accelerate its enforcement operations citywide.
The joint operation was carried out by BMC’s Inspection, Encroachment Removal, Building and Factory, and Solid Waste Management departments. More than 50 officers and staff, along with three JCBs and five dumpers, were deployed for the operation.
