New Delhi : Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday announced that singing Vande Matram will be made compulsory in all schools and educational institutions across the state. There should be a sense of respect for the national song Vande Mataram. We will make its singing compulsory in every school and educational institution of Uttar Pradesh, Adityanath said while addressing the gathering.
The announcement came days after Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated year-long commemoration of Vande Mataram to mark 150 years of the national song at an event in Delhi. The event marked the beginning of a year-long nationwide celebration, running from November 7, 2024, to November 7, 2026, to commemorate 150 years of the iconic song that inspired India’s freedom struggle and remains a symbol of national pride and unity.
Vande Matram was composed by legendary poet Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay on the occasion of Akshaya Navami, November 7, 1875. The song first appeared in the literary journal, ‘Bangadarshan’, as part of Chatterji’s novel, ‘Anandamath’. Speaking at the programme after the event, PM Modi said that the celebration will give new inspiration to many citizens of the country.
As we mark 150 years of Vande Mataram today, this will give us new inspiration and fill the people of the country with new energy,” the Prime Minister had said. The main emotion of Vande Mataram is Bharat, Maa Bharati… Bharat ek rashtra ke roop mein wo kundan ban kar ubhra jo ateet ki har chot sehta raha aur sehkar bhi amaratva ko prapt kar gaya.
