Muzaffarnagar: A woman was allegedly stripped off her hijab and a Hindu man accompanying her was assaulted by a group of men in Uttar Pradesh’s Muzaffarnagar on Tuesday. In the video, a man is seen forcibly removing the woman’s hijab, while others verbally abuse, harass, and physically assault her and the man who was accompanying her.
Farheen, daughter of Farhana, who is a resident of Khalapar and an employee of Utkarsh Small Finance Limited, was accompanied by Sachin on a motorcycle on her mother’s instructions. They were confronted by a group of 8-10 men who allegedly abused and physically assaulted them.
The entire incident was recorded on a mobile phone by a bystander and later circulated widely on various social media platforms, drawing immediate attention from both the public and authorities. Upon receiving information, police rushed to the spot, dispersed the mob, and escorted the duo safely to the police station.
“On April 12, between approximately 4 and 4:30 PM, a Hindu man from Bhavan area and a Muslim woman from Khalapar, both associated with Utkarsh Small Finance Bank, were returning from Sujdu after collecting a loan installment. They were stopped and assaulted by some locals in Darzi Wali Gali,” Muzaffarnagar City Circle Officer (CO) Raju Kumar Sao stated.
The six accused were arrested by the police after the woman filed a complaint. Later, all the accused were seen limping at the police station and were escorted by cops. However, social media users suspected that the limping was ‘staged’.
