Viral Video of Public Drinking Sparks Police Action in ISKCON Ahmedabad

Ahmedabad: A video showing a group of young people openly consuming alcohol near the ISKCON police station in Ahmedabad has gone viral, prompting swift action from local law enforcement. The incident, which took place in a busy area of the city, has raised concerns about public order and police patrolling.
The video, widely circulated on social media, depicts 5 to 7 young individuals drinking and dancing to music in a complex close to the ISKCON police station and bridge. Eyewitness footage shows them holding liquor bottles and seemingly unconcerned about the presence of law enforcement nearby.
The public drinking incident has ignited questions regarding the effectiveness of nighttime police patrols in Ahmedabad, particularly in areas like Sindhu Bhavan Road and SG Highway, where police presence is reportedly heightened. The video suggests a potential lapse in surveillance in the ISKCON area.
In response to the viral video, Sector 1 JCP Niraj Badgujar stated that the police are actively investigating the individuals involved. He confirmed that a criminal case will be registered and that all those seen in the video will be arrested. Police have already identified the people in the video and have apprehended one person so far, with efforts ongoing to locate and arrest the remaining individuals.
The incident has highlighted a perceived lack of fear of the law among some residents in Ahmedabad, as the public drinking occurred in close proximity to a police station.
