Hyderabad : Vijay Deverakonda appeared before the ED In connection to an online betting case. It is a part of the investigation in a money laundering case linked to illegal gambling by certain platforms. The Kingdom actor appeared before the officials of the central agency for questioning at its zonal office in Hyderabad.
A video of Vijay Deverakonda, sees him arrive in a luxury car, and being surrounded by media. However he dodges them, and walks to the premises. Vijay Deverakonda had starred in an advertisement for a betting app. The Cyberabad police had registered a case against him and a few prominent actors for promoting betting. Based on that case, the ED began a separate investigation. Among other personalities against whom the case was registered are Rana Daggubati, Prakash Raj, Manchu Lakshmi, Niddhii Agarwal, Ananya Nagalla, and Srimukhi.
The complainant states that the betting apps involve big amount money on their platforms, which results in financial losses to individuals, especially from middle and lower-class families. Lakhs of rupees are involved in these platforms, and it is also leading several into distress. The FIR stated that endorsing such apps on social media encourages individuals to put money into it, leading to financial instability. The FIR also reads that these celebrities take money from such apps and promote them.
