The Maharashtra Bhushan Award 2024, the state’s highest civilian honor, has been announced for veteran sculptor Ram Sutar, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis declared in the Legislative Assembly.
In an official statement, the Chief Minister said that Ram Sutar, a distinguished sculptor, is 100 years old and continues to create sculptures. He is currently working on the grand statue of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar at the under-construction Indu Mill memorial in Mumbai.
The award selection committee met on March 12, 2025, and unanimously approved Ram Sutar’s name for the Maharashtra Bhushan Award 2024. The award comprises ₹25 lakh, a citation, a memento, and a shawl, Chief Minister Fadnavis stated.
