US Drops Never-Before-Used GBU-57 Bunker Buster Bombs On Iran N-Site

New York : The United States dropped six GBU-57 Massive Ordnance Penetrator (MOP) bombs in recent airstrikes on Iran’s Fordow nuclear facility. The strikes were carried out using B-2 Spirit stealth bombers, each capable of carrying two of the 30,000-pound (15-ton) bunker-buster munitions designed to destroy deeply buried and hardened targets.

The GBU-57s, among the most powerful conventional bombs in the US arsenal, are capable of penetrating up to 200 feet of earth or 60 feet of reinforced concrete, making them ideal for striking heavily fortified underground installations like Fordow. Earlier on Saturday, Reuters reported B-2 bomber activity and later confirmed their involvement in the strikes, citing a US official speaking on condition of anonymity.

In addition to the airstrikes on Fordow, 30 Tomahawk cruise missiles were reportedly launched from US Navy submarines, targeting nuclear-related sites in Natanz and Isfahan. These locations are also key nodes in Iran’s uranium enrichment infrastructure. The operation marks one of the most significant direct military actions against Iran’s nuclear infrastructure to date, with broad strategic and geopolitical implications still unfolding.

The B-2 Spirit stealth bomber can carry up to two GBU-57 Massive Ordnance Penetrators (MOPs), each weighing 30,000 pounds (15 tons). These powerful bunker-busting bombs are specifically engineered to destroy deeply buried and hardened targets, such as Iran’s Fordow nuclear facility.
